The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Starring:
"The Deadline": The Deadline is the grad. student's worst enemy and a guiding friend at the same time. While it threatens to screw his life and has the far-reaching potential to maul almost every aspect of his existence, it also stimulates him to do 'real productive work' (stop laughing, it is real work you know). It 'instills' in him a strong sense of 'the continuity and un-stoppability of time'. He lives in sonstant fear of the approaching deadline but without it he is impotent. The Bad.
"The Weekend": The weekend perioidicaly brings succour into the grad students dying 'life'. It refils his 'enthu' tank and sometimes provides reasons to live on. Also, it gives him time to breathe, sit and think about other issues and philosophies in life (such as beer and women).
Like deserts getting rain
Like Harpic for a drain
So comes 'The Weekend'
And takes away the grad students pain.
The Weekend is 'The Good'.
"The Funding": Tread carefully O grad student for you must do research not where your interests lie, but on the projects that are well funded. Have disregard then, for your likes and dislikes and commit thyself to the cause of the 'funded research project'. We pray that you may never loose your funding. Definitly, "The Ugly".
