Original sin

Here's why I think the idea of a hell and heaven are bullshit: The entire concept of hell and heaven is meant to dissuade men and women from committing 'sins' so that they have an incentive to do 'good'. Thats very nice thank you but wait a minute. What if Mr. X committed a million bad deeds.. lets say X is Bush and he killed a million people. Surely he's going to hell now, aint he ? And he knows it. So he knows he's spending a million hours in hell, one for each of the killings he did, whats stopping him from killing just one more person ? After all it would cost him just 0.0001% more time in hell. X has a reduced marginal incentive for doing good. Its easy to see that the marginal incentive drops linearly with the number or magitude of perceived sin. That can't possibly be the true nature of the world, could it ? A deliberate sinner (if there is such a thing as sin in the first place *) must have as much an incentive to do good as a non-sinner.

* I am now beginning to question the concept of sin in its entirety. Is there really such a thing as 'sin' or am I just getting cought up in the gross ineptitude of the religion-makers that plagued the planet in the early ages? WHEN has man sinned ? Is there an absolute divine book of rules that constanly decides and classifies each human act? Is it a sin when a man doesn't even know what he's doing is 'wrong' ? Or is it only supposed to be sinful when he's aware and still decides to do it ? (We inadvertantly kill millions of germs and insects everyday.. something that hardcore followers of Jainism classify as sin and therefore wear masks on their mouths) Makes me think maybe Danny was right then: "..we're all just biological processes that will end at a finite point in time. No good and bad. No right or wrong.
