Stop Landmines

"What would you do if you had to worry about landmines every time you went to the store, took a drive in the countryside or went to see your doctor?

That’s the reality for millions of people in about 80 countries. With such large numbers of people affected by landmines in countries that may seem very far away, it’s sometimes easy to forget about the problem."

An anti-landmine video made by the UN has been making waves in the the media. CNN has refused to play this video, refusing to comment on why. Speculators say its because CNN feels it unreasonalbly targets the american audience. Unfortunately for CNN, their decision to not play the video has spun off a larger debate than would have potentially resulted from them airing the clip.

The video shows a family cheering their schoolgoing daughter at a football match. She scores a goal and amid the jubilation, she is blown up by a landmine. The image is heart-rending. The video can be seen here.
